Photos

These are some of the practice photos I took of my Grandma. The black background is a bin bag and the white background was the fridge door, as there are not any black or white walls in my house! After taking them I realise that they do not look very professional, but I think this is mainly due to my limited knowledge of photography at this point in the media course and because I was not using professional equipment. Also although I have experimented with lighting (and with the camera flash on and off, I even tried using a red and blue spotlight but this idea did not work) and black and white backgrounds I still feel that these pictures could definitely be improved because they look rather harsh and to an extent lifeless. So photography is obviously a skill that I will need to develop.

These are some of the photos I took of Alex at my tennis club for my school magazine contents page or front cover! The ones where he is wearing orange are my first attempt and the one where he is wearing grey are my second, and I do think there is an improvement because in the photos where Alex is wearing grey against a white background which I think looks much better colour wise than orange clothes against a green background in the first attempt.

These are some of the photos I took of Joe and Tendie at my drama club, and I think my photography skills are gradually improving but because I feel that these photos would look better outside with a brick wall background, and the lighting still needs to be changed as it is still too harsh and reflects of the background.

These are the pictures that I took of Sam and Charlotte at my drama club, after I had decided to do a second photo shoot outside The Orchard Theatre with a brick wall as the background, and I feel that by changing the background to one that does not reflect the flash of the camera the lighting is not harsh. I feel that this has been a massive improvement compared to my first photo shoots in this course.

I have not adapted any of these pictures on Photoshop yet, they are all natural, but the ones that I use in my school magazine I intend to Photoshop if it is necessary.
